Our Second Historic House Tour was held on Friday, July 12 from noon to 4 PM with proceeds benefiting the restoration of the Foster-Meeker House, a future heritage education center for all ages.
On the tour this year were the Phillips-Tuthill House, among the oldest homes in Remsenburg; a Culver home built in the 1850’s in the center of “Culvertown” on South Road, Westhampton; the Stevens Carriage House, circa 1898, in Westhampton Beach; the Griffing Barn, circa 1860 in Westhampton Beach, and The Chapel and Remsenburg Community Church in Remsenburg. These historic homes and houses of worship, all linked to early settlers and/or prominent families, are rich in local history.
Light refreshments were served during the tour at the Chapel in Remsenburg.
