New exhibit for 2015 Westhampton: Then and Now
Our new exhibit for this summer, “Westhampton – Then and Now” will feature a number of early village businesses and show how they have changed over the past 100 years. Scientific advancements were rapid and how business owners took interest in these new ideas, changed the village. The exhibit will display new artifacts and photos along with some seen in the past. So stop in and enjoy learning more about your village. We are delighted to have working with us a new volunteer, Samantha Clink, who is a museum professional. She received her Master of Arts from The Cooperstown Graduate Program – creating a museum exhibit on the Beatles for her senior thesis! Samantha has worked at The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, The Fenimore Art Museum, Herkimer Historic House and Historic House Trust of NYC. She currently works full time as Development Associate at SUNY at Stony Brook University, as well as working as script writer for Erie County Historical Society. We are so please that she has found time to work with us developing this new exhibit. Welcome Samantha! Along with inviting local schools to bring classrooms to visit and learn, we are inviting all attendees of the “Reunion of the Century” scheduled for later this year, to come and walk down memory lane with us. 2015 marks the 375th Anniversary of Southampton Town. There are special events planned throughout the town all year long that highlight our many villages. We will be participating with two tours – one of Westhampton Businesses on July 18th and one of historic homes in Remsenburg on August 9th. Check back for further details!
