THIS MONTH’S NEWS
– On Saturday March 11th we will once again be marching in the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade!
This year’s Parade theme is “Coming Together” and the theme of our own participation will be “Generations Coming Together Through History”. We will have school children and local Society members dressed in costumes spanning the decades, as well as two of our local centenarians Rose Loos and John Comba. Ms. Loos and Mr. Comba will be riding in our own vintage buggy pulled by society members.
– Join us March 12 at 1:30 PM in the meeting room of the Westhampton Free Public Library for
3rd in the series ….
Pirates, Raiders and Rum Runners in Our Waters
will be presented by Noel Gish. Due to the abundant natural growth on Long Island and its surrounding waters, the island became well known for those riches. Due to those same riches we also became home to pirates who came from both sea and land to take for themselves whatever they could. The tales of their exploits make for a fascinating and exciting history that Mr. Gish will relate to us in his inimitable delightful fashion. (Remember his memorable presentation at Buoy One last year?!)
SEE YOU THERE!
There is no charge to join us for this brunch and learn session, but we ask that you call
the Library to reserve your seat as space is limited: 631-288-3335 x 4
NEXT MONTH – April 2017
We continue to schedule interviews with local residents to gather and record personal histories. Do you have personal knowledge of local historical interest or do you know anyone we might want to interview? Give us a call to discuss – Lauren Barlow 631-897-3607
